Accessibility Statement

1.Our commitment
BodyDex is committed to making our website (bodydex.app) and the BodyDex app for iPhone and Android usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines describe how to make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for users with a wide range of abilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or who need reduced motion or high-contrast presentations.
BodyDex is a solo-developer product. We do not claim full WCAG conformance — that would be misleading. Instead, we treat accessibility as an ongoing improvement process and remediate barriers as they are identified.
2.Measures we take
- On the website, we use semantic HTML (proper headings, landmarks, lists), ARIA attributes on custom controls where native semantics aren't enough, visible focus indicators on interactive elements, and keyboard-operable navigation across the site.
- On the website, we respect
prefers-reduced-motionfor motion that plays on its own: looping decorative animations, auto-playing image flips, and counting numbers are removed or shown in their final state when a visitor requests reduced motion. Scroll-linked motion (the homepage hero and product story move only while you scroll, and stop when you do) and short hover and focus transitions remain. - On the website, our text color tokens are calibrated to meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 on the main page background. A May 2026 audit raised our lowest body-text token from 3.56:1 to 5.10:1. Some component-specific surfaces may still need adjustment — please report low-contrast text if you encounter any.
- In the app, on iPhone and Android, most buttons, switches and text fields carry a screen-reader label and role for VoiceOver and TalkBack, including the bottom tab bar, the central add button and its quick-action sheet, food details, workouts and protocol setup. In our October 2026 review, about nine in ten interactive controls had their own label, and most of the remaining buttons contain visible text that the screen reader reads instead.
- The app follows your device's text size setting (Dynamic Type on iPhone, font size on Android). Text grows up to 130% of its default size; see Known limitations.
- When Reduce Motion (iPhone) or Remove animations (Android) is on, most of the app's animations jump to their end state and decorative loops such as pulses and shimmers stop. Short notification banners still slide in and out.
- In both app themes, our body and secondary text colors measure at least 6.8:1 against the page and card backgrounds. Our dimmest hint text color measures at least 4.9:1 in the light theme and 5.1:1 on the dark page background.
- We conduct periodic accessibility reviews and document findings and fixes in our project repository. Our most recent review was completed October 6, 2026: it checked screen-reader labels across the app's screens, text scaling, Reduce Motion handling, and text contrast in the app's light and dark themes. A full Android review on August 29, 2026 included TalkBack behavior, and the website was audited against WCAG 2.1 AA on May 26, 2026.
3.Known limitations
As of our October 6, 2026 review, we are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet our target standard:
- App — muscle map: on the Muscle Recovery screen you set soreness by tapping a muscle on the anatomical figure, which uses pixel-precise tap detection. VoiceOver and TalkBack treat the figure as a single “Muscle map” button, so choosing a specific muscle there is not practical with a screen reader yet. Recovery levels for each muscle group can be read as text in the Today's plan sheet in the Fitness section.
- App — unlabeled controls: roughly one in ten interactive controls does not yet have its own screen-reader label. Most of these contain visible text that is read aloud, but some switches, text fields and icon buttons (for example on the scanner camera, the routines list and the Fitness section of the Tools tab) may be announced without a clear name.
- App — larger text sizes: text grows with your device setting up to 130% of its default size. The largest accessibility text sizes on iPhone and Android are shown at that 130% maximum, and a few small numeric labels and badges keep a fixed size.
- Android app — TalkBack: some pop-up panels in protocol setup do not keep TalkBack focus inside the panel the way VoiceOver does on iPhone, and some selected option cards in protocol setup are announced as not checked. A few actions are only available by swiping or long-pressing a row, such as saving a recipe to a collection from the recipe list.
- App — touch targets and contrast: some small controls are below the recommended 44 pt (iPhone) or 48 dp (Android) touch-target size. In the dark theme, our dimmest hint text measures about 4.0:1 to 4.6:1 on raised cards and sheets, below the 4.5:1 target in places.
- Third-party content: App Store and Google Play listings, recipe pages you import from other websites, and system sheets provided by Apple and Google are outside our control.
- AI-generated visuals: some illustrative images in the app are AI-generated and may not have perfect descriptive alt text. Text alternatives are provided where critical for understanding.
4.Report an accessibility barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on bodydex.app or in the BodyDex app on iPhone or Android, please let us know. We will respond and work to remediate the issue.
Email:
When reporting, please include:
- The page URL or app screen where you encountered the barrier
- A short description of the issue
- The assistive technology you were using (e.g. VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA, keyboard-only)
- Your device + operating system if relevant
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports as quickly as possible, typically within a few business days. As a solo-developer product, response times may vary — we appreciate your patience.
5.Standard and scope
Target standard: WCAG 2.1, Level AA.
Scope: the marketing website at bodydex.app and the current versions of the BodyDex app for iPhone on the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. Third-party content embedded or linked from our properties (App Store and Google Play listings, external partners) is not covered by this statement.
