Per-region display, not one bar
A single 'fatigue score' hides everything useful. BodyDex draws your training onto a body figure with 24 tappable muscle regions across front and back views, so chest day and leg day light up different parts of the map.
A real exercise library
873 exercises with bundled demonstration images, searchable and filterable by category. Each exercise is tagged with the primary and secondary muscles it works — those tags are what feed the map.
Honest inputs only
The map is built from exactly two things: the workouts you log and the soreness you report. BodyDex has no sensors and does not measure your muscles — the map is a picture of your log, nothing more.
Full set logging
Sets, reps, weight, set type, and optional RPE per set — plus supersets, cardio sets, and automatic personal-record detection when a logged set beats your history.
History that carries forward
Every completed workout lands in your workout history, and each exercise keeps its own set history — so logging a repeat exercise can prefill what you did last time.

How the muscle map works in BodyDex
1Log a workout
Quick-log a single exercise, run a live workout in the builder, or log cardio. Sets record reps, weight, set type, and optional RPE.
2Muscle tags flow to the map
Each exercise in the library is tagged with primary and secondary muscles. When you complete sets, that logged work is attributed to the matching regions.
3The map colors your logged work
Regions you trained recently render hot and fade back toward neutral as the logged work ages. More sets and harder RPE ratings produce a stronger signal on the map.
4Tap a region for detail
A bottom sheet shows that region's current state, when you last trained it, and its set count over the past 7 days.
5Report soreness
Tell the app how the region feels — Fresh, Tight, Sore, or Very Sore. Your report becomes that region's displayed state until it expires or you train the region again.
What the map is — and what it isn't
It is a picture of your log
Every color on the map traces back to something you did: a set you logged in BodyDex, a workout synced from Apple Health or Health Connect, or a soreness report you tapped in yourself. Recent logged work shows hot; older logged work fades.
It is not a measurement
BodyDex has no sensors and takes no biometric readings. The map does not measure muscle recovery, readiness, or anything else about your physiology — and it isn't training advice. It shows what you logged, when, and how you said you feel.
Your soreness report wins
When you tell BodyDex a region feels Fresh, Tight, Sore, or Very Sore, your report becomes that region's displayed state — not a small adjustment on top of a formula. It stays in effect until it expires or you train that region again.

Each workout gets a calorie-burn estimate, and you decide what percentage of it — from all of it to none of it — counts against your daily calorie target.

What are the 24 muscle regions?
BodyDex draws 24 tappable regions across the front and back views of the body figure (with male and female figure options). The front view shows 14 regions (neck, traps, chest, shoulders, biceps, forearm flexors, forearm extensors, abs, lower abs, obliques, quads, adductors, abductors, calves) and the back view shows 10 (traps, rear delts, triceps, forearm flexors, forearm extensors, lats, lower back, glutes, hamstrings, calves).
Does the map measure recovery or readiness?
No. The map has exactly two inputs: the workouts you log and the soreness you report. There are no sensors, no HRV, and no biometric measurements — BodyDex does not measure what your muscles are physiologically ready for, and the map is not training or medical advice. If you don't log a workout, the map doesn't know it happened.
Is the workout tracker free?
Partly. Quick-logging an exercise and cardio logging are on the free tier, and completed workouts keep their history. The 873-exercise Browse library, the live workout builder, auto-generated routines, and the muscle map are part of BodyDex Premium ($9.99/mo or $79.99/yr, with a 7-day trial).
Do Apple Watch or Health Connect workouts show on the map?
Yes. Workouts synced in from Apple Health or Health Connect — watch-logged running, cycling, rowing, and so on — contribute to the map alongside the sets you log in BodyDex.
Do exercises really have demonstration images?
Yes. All 873 exercises ship with demo images bundled inside the app, based on an open, public-domain exercise dataset — no download needed to view them.
Where is my workout data stored?
On your device, in a local SQLite database. There is no centralized BodyDex database of your workouts. On iOS, iCloud backup (if you use it) is at the OS level and follows Apple's standard encryption posture; on Android, BodyDex opts out of OS backups entirely, so your log never leaves the device.
